How To Insulate A Ceiling

  1. Staple or screw to affix insulation to before installing your studs.
  2. To improve performance, let insulation sag to create air-gap (2+ inches).
  3. Tape seams with reflective tape.

Two Layers Over/Under Stud:

Two Layers Over/Under Stud
  1. Staple or screw to affix insulation before installing your studs.
  2. To improve performance, let insulation sag to create air-gap (2+ inches).
  3. Tape seams with reflective tape.
  4. Screw 2nd layer of insulation to underside of stud.

Ceiling SmartSHIELD Two Layers - One Layer Between and One Layer Under Studs:

  1. Depending on your stud spacing, staple or screw one layer of SmartSHIELD insulation between studs.
  2. Staple or screw larger roll (SmartSHIELD 10MM or SmartSHIELD 20MM) under stud.

Ceiling SmartSHIELD One Layer Under Stud plus Drywall:

  1. Staple or screw or insulation to underside of studs.
  2. Push insulation into cavity to create 2 inch or more air-gap.
  3. Attach drywall.

Ceiling SmartSHIELD Two Layers Between/Under Stud with Furring and Drywall:

  1. Depending on your stud spacing, staple or screw one layer of SmartSHIELD insulation between studs.
  2. Staple or screw larger roll (SmartSHIELD 10MM or SmartSHIELD 20MM) under stud.
  3. Attach 1 inch lathe board (furring strip) through underside of insulation.
  4. Attach drywall.

  1. Depending on your stud spacing, staple or screw one layer of SmartSHIELD insulation between studs.
