SmartSHIELD 20mm white film is built to handle heat like a pro. With a polyethylene foam core and dual layers of engineered foil, it forms a powerful thermal shield. The white film reflects up to 96% of radiant heat, while the closed-cell foam traps air to block heat transfer through conduction and convection. This dynamic duo helps keep your space cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter, and your energy bills lower all year long.

This high-quality SmartSHIELD 20mm white film is built to last, resisting moisture and preventing mold growth while withstanding everyday wear and tear. Its non-toxic, non-carcinogenic design is safe for any space, and with an R-18 rating, it maintains stable indoor temperatures year-round.

Designed for easy handling, SmartSHIELD 20mm white film is lightweight, flexible, and simple to install. It bends around corners and fits into tight spots, making it a go-to for DIY projects in attics, walls, crawl spaces, and garages. Plus, its tear-resistant build ensures long-term durability, even in harsh conditions.

A WASTE OF MONEY!!! DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!!!

I bought a house that was built in the 1940s for insulation. They had put dirt in the attic and somewhere along the line somebody added bad insulation. The house was always cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I read the reviews on a new insulation made from the space shuttle fights into space. I spent $2400 on this product and another $2000 having the old insulation removed and the new insulation put in. I even added the reflective barrier for the inside of my hip roof beams!I completed the project at the end of August and there was no difference in the temperature in side my house and my air conditioning cool air was not bouncing off my ceiling and keeping the house cool! And the attic was just as hot as before rising to the high nineties and that wouldn’t have been so bad if it didn’t penetrate through my new radiant barrier oh, I forgot to mention I put two layers of the r18 upstairs. The company said two layers would be r23. I was surprised by that as common sense would tell you if one layer of this new wonderful radiant barrier had an r18 rating you’d think two layers would give you an r36! Wouldn’t you think that? Unfortunately, I didn’t find that out after I ordered enough of the radiant barrier to put two layers up there!I really believed the hype on this “space age advancement in radiant barrier materials!” I actually bet my wife a $100.00 it would work & justify the expense!FRIENDS, DON’T DO IT!!!! ITS A WASTE OF MONEY!!!! COMPLETE BS!!!I’m very sorry to have to have written such a negative review of the product.N. Tavlos

Superior stuff!

At 48” we ripped the rolls in half and didn’t even need staples, it just pushed into place with this custom tool I found in garage. Razor knife, chalk line. . . No mess, No itch. The cost for spray foam was bout 4k and thisMaterial was 1,400 for a 14x25 shed.

It's not pretty

I bought the white because it's going to be visible when it's installed. It's made by glueing two sheets together but there big air bubbles between the sheets (like 4" across). I haven't found this with the double sided foil. Maybe I got a bad batch.

Wrapped our above ground pool with this.

I've been challenged by the cooler nights and keeping our above-ground pool to remain swim-worthy as we move toward winter. I had to purchase two rolls of this product to wrap our 9'x17' soft sided pool, and there is a gap on both ends where our ladder/platform sits and the end where the tubes go in and out, but it made a difference immediately in helping maintain the temperature longer than leaving it as is had done. It's now too past the season (once nighttime temps hit the 40s, it's over), but I know this product will help my pool get back into the swim zone earlier than usual once Spring time arrives. Glad I took the plunge on this one!

FAQ

SmartSHIELD 20mm white film insulation has an R-value of up to R-18 with a single layer and up to R-25 with two layers

Yes, for optimal performance, a reflective foil insulation requires an air gap of at least 3/4 of an inch on one side.

Yes, while both reflect radiant heat, they differ in design and application. Radiant barriers are typically thin materials installed in attics to reflect heat away from living spaces, whereas reflective insulation combines reflective surfaces with insulating materials to reduce heat transfer through radiation, conduction, and convection.
