INSTALL GUIDES: Van - Sprinter or Cargo Insulation

INSTALL GUIDES: Van - Sprinter or Cargo Insulation

Insulating a van, such as a Sprinter or cargo van, is essential for enhancing comfort, controlling temperature, and improving energy efficiency. Proper insulation can help keep the interior warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and reduce noise from the road.

Use: SmartSHIELD 5MM or SmartSHIELD 10MM

How To Insulate A Sprinter Van or Cargo

  1. Cut three inch wide strips of insulation from your rolls.
  2. Tape (double sided tape) the strips of insulation every two feet on roof and walls. The tape is designed for immediate adhesion. The glue will provide long-term adhesion.
  3. Tape the insulation to the cut strips as shown in photo.
  4. Tape insulation seams with reflective tape or use our SmartSHIELD 10MM to avoid seam tape. Poof, you've created a sprinter van insulation kit.

The Best Sprinter Van Insulation

A sprinter van insulation system requires a Radiant barrier, Vapor Barrier, and Reflective Insulation because of the unique nature of the metal. The sun's rays on the metal surface creates unbearable heat inside the container in the summer. Cold winter temperatures are exaggerated by the metal sheeting making it frigid inside. Warm temperature on a cool metal creates sweating (condensation). SmartSHIELD Reflective Insulation serves a true vapor barrier and condensation eliminator. It has a high R-value and it prevents radiant heat transfer (primary source of heat-flow). It's superior to fiberglass batt as cargo van insulation because it is unaffected by humidity or water. It doesn't mildew or promote fungus growth and it keeps the van cool in the summer .

It is also much easier and less expensive to install. SmartSHIELD Reflective Insulation cargo van insulation is superior to double bubble insulation in vans because the heat from the metal skin doesn't cause its polyethylene micro-bubbles to collapse. With a pressure of 6 PSI SmartSHIELD compresses just 6%. When the load is relieved it takes back its initial shape. The density of the foam is between 1.25 lb/ft (sq) - 1.87 lb/ft (sq). This gives the material real body.

Benefits of Van Insulation

1. Temperature Control: Keeps the van warmer in cold weather and cooler in hot weather, improving comfort.

2. Energy Efficiency: Reduces the load on heating and cooling systems, improving energy efficiency.

3. Noise Reduction: Dampens road noise, vibrations, and external sounds for a quieter ride.

4. Moisture Control: Helps prevent condensation and mold growth inside the van.

Insulating a van, such as a Sprinter or cargo van, is key to improving comfort, energy efficiency, and noise control. By selecting the appropriate insulation materials and following a careful installation process, you can enhance the van’s performance and make it a more comfortable space for travel or work. Regular maintenanand inspections will help ensure the insulation continues to perform effectively.

I've been putting this product into my attic, two rolls at a time, over the past two months. what a difference it has made. The back of the house stays warmer longer and I'm anxious to see how this all works out this summer. Also my Hvac guy said I have the nicest looking attic he's ever seen.

This material works very well for reducing heat load in our RV. Even with a high quality windshield sun screen this significantly provides much better sun protection. Also excellent for side windows.
