How To Insulate Basement Walls
Insulation Direct on Cement Wall, Under Stud plus drywall:
- Use double-sided tape to attach SmartSHIELD to the cement wall.
- Tape seams with reflective tape.
- Staple, screw or use double-sided tapet to place the insulation underside of the studs.
- To enhance performance, push the insulation inside the cavity to create an air-gap of 1 or more inches.
- Attach drywall.
One Layer Under Stud Plus Drywall:
- Staple, screw or use double-sided tape to place the insulation underside of the studs.
- To enhance performance, push the insulation inside the cavity to create an air-gap of 1 or more inches.
- Attach drywall.
One Layer Between Stud:
1. Depending on your stud spacing, staple one layer of SmartSHIELD insulation between the studs.
One Layer Below Stud:
1. Staple or screw insulation under the stud.
Two Layers, One Between And One Below Stud:
1. Depending on your stud spacing, staple one layer of SmartSHIELD insulation between studs
2. Staple or screw larger roll (SmartSHIELD 10MM or SmartSHIELD 20MM) under stud.
Two Layers, One Between and One Under Stud with furring and Drywall:
- Depending on your stud spacing, staple or screw one layer of SmartSHIELD insulation between studs.
- Staple or screw larger roll (SmartSHIELD 10MM or SmartSHIELD 20MM) under stud.
- Attach 1 inch lathe board (furring strip) through the insulation into the stud.
- Attach drywall.
